The layout of the purpose-built homes is designed to maintain a home-like feel, with common areas for family visits, meals, and activities. Individual bedrooms are organized into smaller pods to create shorter hallways and minimize the institutional feeling often associated with larger assisted living facilities.
Applying the assisted living building prototype developed for the client's Louisiana project, Greenleaf's flexible design supports different levels of care while adapting to the specific needs of the Denton location.
Increasing the number of building units, enlarging administrative areas to accommodate the additional units, adapting the prototype to the site, increasing overall project capacity, and responding to different code and healthcare requirements were among the primary considerations in applying the prototype to the new location.
Through research of local codes and healthcare requirements, Greenleaf Architects modified the residential assisted living prototype without compromising the fundamental design principles established in Louisiana. The plan continues to encourage cognitive awareness through intuitive, functional spaces designed specifically for assisted living and memory care.
The prototype also continues to evolve based on experience and lessons learned from the original Sage Oak project in Lake Charles, allowing each subsequent facility to benefit from what was learned during the design, construction, and operation of the previous location.
