Greenleaf’s relationship with Walk-On’s began as the Baton Rouge-based restaurant expanded into the Northshore market with a new location in Covington. Moving the brand into a community without the direct university connection that had shaped many of its earlier locations required the team to think differently about how Walk-On’s could maintain its game-day identity while feeling specific to the Northshore.

Greenleaf assisted with site selection and developed the Covington restaurant around multiple dining and gathering experiences, including the “Upper Deck,” an outdoor area with televisions, a bar, and lounge seating. The design created additional ways for guests to gather for games, meals, and events while extending the restaurant experience beyond the main dining room.

Local identity also became an important part of the project. A custom athlete wall incorporated Southeastern Louisiana University, LSU, and New Orleans Saints athletes along with a dedicated section recognizing local high school athletes, allowing the restaurant to maintain the sports-driven character of the Walk-On’s brand while connecting it more directly to the surrounding community.

The Covington project became the beginning of a larger relationship between Greenleaf and Walk-On’s. Greenleaf continued working with the brand through prototype refinement and subsequent locations, including renovations and new construction across multiple markets. Through that ongoing work, the design has continued to evolve from one location to the next while maintaining the recognizable atmosphere and operational requirements that define the Walk-On’s experience.
