The Louisiana State Police Troop L Headquarters marks an exciting and transformational step forward for public safety on the Northshore: the creation of a new, purpose-built facility designed to better support the troopers who serve and protect our communities every day. Construction on the original building began in 1977, nearly 50 years ago. Since that time, the Troop L area has experienced significant growth, while advancements in law enforcement technology have reshaped the way public safety operations function. Together, these changes have made the need for a new facility an absolute necessity.

After decades of service from the original building, this new headquarters reimagines what a modern law enforcement campus can be, with improved functionality, resilience, and responsiveness to the needs of today’s public safety operations.

Spanning over 30,000 square feet, the new facility has been thoughtfully planned to provide the space, resources, and operational efficiency needed for Troop L to continue serving the region with excellence. From daily administrative functions to critical response support, every component of the campus is designed with purpose, helping create a strong and reliable home base for the men and women behind the badge.

The project includes demolition of the existing building and a comprehensive site master plan that brings together the new headquarters, a new mechanic garage, a revamped helipad, on-site stormwater management systems, a site generator, and several existing structures into one cohesive public safety campus. Universal design principles and energy performance modeling are also integrated into the design, reinforcing a commitment to accessibility, efficiency, and long-term resilience.
