Habaneros expanded into the Baton Rouge market with a new location at Perkins Rowe, transforming an existing tenant space into a restaurant designed around the brand's energetic approach to food, cocktails, and social dining.
Greenleaf provided architectural and interior design services for the renovation and tenant build-out, working closely with the ownership team to translate the Habaneros identity into a more immersive restaurant environment. The design uses bold color, layered textures, dramatic lighting, greenery, and custom decorative elements to create a space that feels distinctive without relying on a conventional restaurant palette.
The dining room, bar, and patio were developed as complementary experiences within the larger restaurant. Rich finishes, custom lighting, expressive furniture, and planting create visual interest throughout the space, while the bar serves as one of the primary focal points of the interior. Custom installations and decorative features reinforce the playful character of the brand and give the restaurant its own identity within Perkins Rowe.
The project also established the beginning of Greenleaf's relationship with Habaneros. Lessons learned through the Perkins Rowe location helped inform subsequent work with the client, including the later Metairie restaurant, allowing the design language to continue evolving while maintaining the recognizable character established in Baton Rouge. Completed in 2024, the Perkins Rowe project marked Habaneros' expansion into a new market while giving the brand a more developed architectural and interior identity that could carry forward into future locations.
